This week's moves in the USL Championship...

Charleston Battery sold teenage Mexican midfielder Fidel Barajas to Real Salt Lake.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks added striker Quenzi Huerman from USL-2 Asheville City.

Detroit City finally made some moves, signing Scottish midfielder Ali Coote from Bohemians in Ireland, defender Alex Villaneuva from Orange County, and Ghanaian striker Elvis Amoh from Hartford.

El Paso Locomotive brought in defender Lucas Stauffer from Las Vegas.

The Hartford Athletic rebuild continues with defender Jordan Scarlett from Louisville and goalkeeper Brooks Thompson from Philadelphia II.

Indy Eleven hired a new head coach, former Minnesota (interim) coach Sean McAuley.

Defender Keegan Tingey arrived at Loudoun United from San Jose

Louisville City signed English winger Sam Gleadle from Monterey Bay

Memphis 901 were busy, acquiring Togolese defender Tulu from San Antonio, midfielder Alvaro Quezada from Las Vegas, and goalkeeper Tyler Deric from Houston.

Miami have Peruvian midfielder David Mejia from Atlanta II.

New Mexico United went to Albania to find Ghanaian striker Abu Danlabi.

Oakland Roots have found space for defender Niall Logue from Hartford.

Orange County have signed winger Christian Sorto from Miami.

It's all going on at Phoenix Rising, where head coach Juan Guerra has moved to Houston as assistant coach, and striker Danny Trejo is off to Poland with Korona Kielce. They've brought in a pair of Senegalese players - young striker Pape Mar Boye from Clemson and defender Mohamed Traore from LAFC on a permanent move - and Italian midfielder Giulio Doratiotto from Juventus.

Newcomers Rhode Island have added midfielder Clay Holstad to their squad from Columbus II.

Tampa Bay Rowdies found Burundian international winger Pacifique Niyongabire in Winnipeg, where he played for Valour.

Finally, Tulsa's head coach Blair Gavin has gone to work in the New England backroom.



USL League One transfer round-up:


Central Valley Fuego and Charlotte Independence are yet to announce any new signings this season.

Chattanooga Red Wolves have set about reshaping their squad, bringing in English full back Jamil Roberts from Australia, Brazilian midfielder Lucas Coutinho from Greenville, Serbian midfielder Stefan Lukic from Northern Colorado, defenders Leo Folla from Northern Colorado and Gustavo Fernandes from North Carolina, and goalkeeper TJ Bush from South Georgia.

Greenville Triumph have promoted assistant coach Rick Wright to head coach to replace John harkes, and he's signed midfielder Carlos Anguiano from Phoenix.

Lexington have also been busy in the transfer market, bringing in Malta international midfielder Yannick Yankam from Birkakara, English midfielder Jayden Onen from Madison, defenders Anthony Patti and Ebenezer Ackon from San Diego, Cuban international Modesto Mendez from Hartford, full back Christian Lue Young from North Carolina, Venezuelan midfielder Abel Caputo from Inter Miami II, and English centre back Michael Agboola from the Essex Senior League.

Forward Madison have brought in Israeli defender Michael Chilaka from San Diego, midfielder Devin Boyce from Greenville, and Senegalese striker Cherif Dieye from Central Valley.

Northern Colorado Hailstrom have made just one signing so far, Australian midfielder Patrick Langlois from South Melbourne.

One Knoxville have a clutch of new signings, bringing in defender Devin Benton from North Carolina, Norwegian defender Sivert Haugli from Moss, Ghanaian winger Kingsford Adjei from South Georgia, and winger Rich Ballard from Detroit.

Union Omaha have so far only added defender Blake Malone from Colorado 2.

English midfielder James Vaughan has signed for Richmond Kickers from Eastbourne Borough, alongside striker Ryan Sierakowski and veteran Chilean goalkeeper Pablo Jara from South Georgia.

South Georgia Tormenta have signed US Virgin Islands international defender Joshua Ramos from UPSL side Lakeland United, Ivorian midfielder Tavio D'Almeida from USL-2 side Fort Wayne, free agent midfielder Daniel Steedman, English winger Niall Watson from Southport, and goalkeeper Ford Parker from New Mexico.

Expansion side Spokane Velocity brought in Charlkeston assistant coach Leigh Veidman to be their first head coach and he's started building his squad. So far they have defenders Derek Waldeck from Knoxville and Marcelo Lage from Las Vegas, midfielders Morgan Hackworth from San Diego, midfielder Collin Fernandez from Tulsa, and midfielder Grayson Dupont from Birmingham, Spanish full back Javier Martin Gil and English midfielder Jack Denton from Missouri State, Mexican goalkeeper Carlos Merancio from Rio Grande Valley, and English striker Josh Dolling from New Mexico United.


NISA news


The league announced two new teams for 2024. Capo are from San Juan Capistrano in southern Orange County and spent 2023 in USL League Two, as did Georgia Lions, who will play in Conyers, half an hour outside of Atlanta. Las Vegas Legends won the first NISA Nation championship and will be promoted to NISA proper in 2025, what the league are claiming is the first such promotion/relegation case in professional soccer in the US. Champions Flower City Union from Rochester promised a big announcement on Thursday and it turned out to be promotional tie-up with a hamburger.

The full list of NISA sides for 2024 hasn't been released yet but the league have been retweeting announcements by LA ForceMaryland Bobcats, and Savannah CloversChattanooga have fled to MLS Next Pro and nothing definite has been heard from Albion San DiegoClub de LyonGold Star Detroit, and Michigan Stars.​ The previously announced Irvine Zeta club have been silent for 2 months.
